Artemis 1 science: Moon mission will aid deep space exploration

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. — NASA is about to launch its largest rocket because the well-known Saturn V took Apollo astronauts to the moon — and that is the place this new mission is headed as properly.

The company’s Space Launch System (SLS) rocket is about to raise off from Pad 39B right here at Kennedy Space Center on Monday (Aug. 29) on Artemis 1, a mission that can ship an Orion spacecraft on a six-week, uncrewed journey to lunar orbit and again.
